Ah, blessed relief, blessed rain. You have so beautifully said what I feel in October when the rains come back to the island after a summer of heat and drought and the fear of fire. That feeling of disbelief when the first drops hit the steel roof - running outside to smell the damp. I love the thought of savouring the green silence.
"Running outside to smell the damp" - that's exactly what I do!! It's maddening, that earthy scent, isn't it?! The green silence reminds me of the mossy, wet greenness of the Pacific Northwest. Sigh!

Hi Helen, yes, it's quite thrilling to see the rains come at last. Such a change of mood it brings about!
DeleteHope you are having a great, sunny week there. Take care.
I am glad for you. What a relief!! And it is beautifully said!
ReplyDeleteI am glad for me too, dear Celine!! Thank you for the appreciation; means a lot, every time.
DeleteWell, there you are then.
ReplyDeleteEverything comes to her who waits.
Eventually.
Congratulations, although it’s hard for me to understand that rain can be such a blessing.
