"I always wonder why
birds stay
in the same place
when they can fly
anywhere on the earth.
Then I ask myself
The same question."
~ Harun Yahya
I wonder a lot these days. Of open skies and floating marshmallow clouds. Of a free mind and untroubled waters. Of people who are true and their hearts green. Of rippling meadows and yellow-white chamomiles. Of birds and their unhinged freedom. Of humans and how limited our horizons are.
This a beautiful image Suman.
ReplyDeleteWe simultaneously crave freedom and security....what a dilemma!
Ruby
True! If only there was a right, heady mix of both!
DeleteI'm glad you like the picture.
We so often turn to - go back to - the security of what we know. I'd love to live a year in the colour and excitement of where you are, but know that I'd want to return to the cool, monochromatic green and grey of this coast. It's part of the human condition.
ReplyDeleteYes, I guess there lies the trap. :-)
DeleteThanks for appreciating the header; I have a thing for closed doors and this one, being cocooned by the flowers has an element of mystery to it.
.....and I meant to say - your header photo is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteHello Suman
ReplyDeleteI suppose it depends greatly on the bird. Just two weeks ago, when visiting Ireland the swallows were assembling and the next day they were gone. We believe to South America. Then on returning to our home in North America we are greeted by the ever present pigeons.
I think I have the traits of a swallow and perhaps you do also

Dear Helen, couldn't agree more about the swallow bit! Yes, I'm one and sometimes it becomes difficult. How beautifully you've described the human urge to be on a constant search, to explore other lands, and to live a life that is 'different'.
DeleteHello Suman, I'm awake in the middle of the night because I'm planning to take a year out next September and travel all around the U.K. I was thinking and worrying and so it felt fitting to read your lovely quotation, I shall add it to my 'Gap Year' file! Thank you. Jane x
ReplyDeleteHello Jane, I'm glad the quote helped.
DeleteHow wonderful that sounds, to travel through such a beautiful land for one whole year. I'll be looking forward to your pictures.
My dear Suman. Beautiful post!! I suppose the need for security and the fear of the unknown are the reasons why our horizons are limited.
ReplyDeleteWell said, dear Celine! :-)
DeleteSo beautiful. I too, sometimes ask myself why I don't fly a little more. It's a sign to do so.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Alexabdria! True, that's a sign, one that should be followed.
DeleteOur spirits fly, as do our thoughts.
ReplyDeleteYou may call it ‘wondering’ but what else is it but flying?
Your wit always saves my day, dear Friko! :-)
DeleteYes, flying it is, in every sense.
