Earth, my dearest
"Earth, my dearest, oh believe me, you no longer need your springtimes to win me over...Unspeakably, I have belonged to you, from the flush."
~ Rilke
Yesterday was Earth Day. So thought would let her know. Albeit a little late.
Here's to her beautiful blue-green curves!
Hello Suman,
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful quotation. Indeed, it is so easy to be seduced by the first flush of Spring when new growth abounds and everything seems full of hope and promise for the year ahead. But, we do need to cherish our Earth in all its seasons for it is a thing of fragile beauty which belongs to all of us but is owned by nobody.
Beautifully expressed, dear Jane and Lance. Autumn still remains my first love but then with Rilke, as I'm sure you'll agree, seasons don't matter.
DeleteI am glad you chose Rilke for this paean to mother earth.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm glad you like it, dear Friko. To the eternal Rilke!
DeleteBeautiful quote and picture! I like this sky with these clouds!
ReplyDeleteIt was one of our backyard trees in Seattle. I miss the drastic change of seasons, how magically the leaves flower and then with even a greater drama, fall off. Glad you like it, my dear. Merci beaucoup!
